Walking along the street in the city, I have seen some of the
beggars asking for money from people who travelling pass them, especially at
the traffic stop. Some beggars even sleep at the edge of the road at night time,
and they have no place to go! Yeah it is possibly no place. I wonder why there
are so many beggars in Cambodia, it is just my observation. Actually, I myself
have never given money to them while they asking for money from me and other
people. It does not mean I am so selfish, but I just wonder what if I give
money to them and what will they take that money use for? However, I used to give
small money to some beggars either, if I feel that people would use that money
in a right way. Yet I still do not know
whether they use it in a right way or not. Do you think there are many things
that beggars can do instead of asking for money on the road?
Have they ever
thought to be a dish cleaner at some restaurants in some places instead of
begging? I do not know their mind. Have they thought they can to be a dish
cleaner or other work is hard for them to do? I question myself what if I were
them, or I have no chance to do other things besides begging? what if they are disabled people? what can they do ? I think it would
be come from the mindset that people just want to do thing which is easy to do,
not to try hard and then get it very easy just like begging. Is begging easy to
do? Yes, no? I thought it is never easy to be a beggar. Yet, beggars might
think it is easy to be beggar. That’s why they do it. Or No, it is because of
the poverty make them to be beggars. Poverty is the main root which causes poor
people to do that. Is it really because of poverty? It might be come from
homeless that’s why they beg. Homeless, how can they survive! And why they are
homeless? Because of education, maybe. Why education? People can access to education
also because of poverty. So how can we help homeless people to have shelter?
Ask the government to help? Ask the
foreign investment to build home for them and give them opportunity to access
schooling? So where is the money to get invest? Government gives land
concession to investors? It would be have a proper solution to solve this
problem out so what is your idea to solve this issue?
